What is GDPR?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a data regulation enacted by the European Union on data protection and privacy for the benefit of all individuals located in the European Union. To put it simply, it provides comprehensive data privacy protection of the personal data of EU individuals, focusing on transparency, accountability and the rights of data subjects. GDPR took effect on May 25, 2018.
How did React & Share handle GDPR?
React & Share underwent a full review of systems and policies in spring 2018 to achieve GDPR compliance.
What kind of data do we collect and why?
We collect non-personally identifying information data such as page views, share buttons clicks, feedback responses and reading times with our reaction buttons and feedback forms. We track these events as the basis of our content experience analysis.
For user action related events collected, a unique generated-identifier is created for each browser to calculate the number of unique visitors and reading times accurately and to prevent spam. We then save this as a first-party cookie which is readable only on your domain and not anywhere else. It is a technical identifier and cannot be used to unveil users' identities or other personal information.
Have the GDPR changes affected my Terms of Service with React & Share?
We are, by GDPR standards, a data processor. This data is collected or sent to us from our end-users and we process the data on behalf of our customers. Simply put, our customers are the data controller. As such, your data is safe and secure with us.
We do not sell user preference data to third party marketers, which we are really proud of. We believe your data belongs to you, and readers' data belongs to the readers.
